What to do and what not to do during a horse ride
✅ What to do
- Approach calmly and ask before touching or feeding it.
- Please let the guide know if you are beginners or nervous, so we can choose the most suitable horse.
- Stay calm; horses sense tension and respond better to calm people.
- Wear appropriate clothing, closed-toe shoes, long, comfortable trousers and a cap!
- Always follow and respect the guide’s instructions and decisions.
- Hold the reins gently; control should be firm but not tense.
- Maintain good posture, a straight back, relaxed shoulders…
- Put your mobile away and enjoy the walk and the nature.
- Keep your distance from other horses, leaving room to avoid accidental bumps or kicks.
- Respect the animals; avoid pulling the reins, hitting or treating them roughly. You can speak to them in a calm voice.
- Only dismount when instructed by the guide and in a controlled manner.
❌ What NOT to do
- Never stand behind the horse.
- Do not shout or make sudden movements, you might frighten him.
- Do not disturb the animals
- Don’t pull the reins hard for no reason.
- Do not ride ahead of the guide or the other horses without permission; this could disrupt the group
- Do not force the horse to quicken its pace unless the guide explicitly says so.
